March 1, 2025 – Wild Coast Raw has issued a recall of the Boneless Free Range Chicken Formula raw pet food for cats due to potential contamination with bird flu.

What You Need to Know About the HPAI virus

If your pet has been infected with the HPAI virus, they can show a range of clinical signs including loss of appetite, severe
depression, fever, difficulty breathing, neurological disease, respiratory difficulties, jaundice, and death. These signs are expected to develop within a few days of exposure to the virus. As with many viral infections, some cats may only show mild signs. It’s important to note that pets have died from avian influenza

Important Message for People Who Handled These Foods

While it’s unlikely that people would catch avian influenza through contact with an infected wild, stray, feral, or domestic cat, it is possible, especially if there is prolonged and unprotected exposure to an infected animal. Precautions should be taken when handling a sick animal, whether it is a beloved pet or a wild animal.

Cats Foods Recalled

The affected cat foods involved is the Frozen Boneless Free Range Chicken Formula raw pet food for cats and can be identified by a sticker on the lid with the following numbers: #22660, #22653, #22641, #22639, #22672 and #22664 with a Best Buy date of 12/25.

The frozen product, available in 16oz and 24oz sizes, was distributed to pet food retailers in Washington State and Oregon. It is packaged in a small, round, white plastic container with a green label.

What to Do Next

Anyone who thinks their pets have become ill after consuming contaminated pet food should first contact their veterinarians.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product should immediately discard the product and contact the place of purchase for a full refund.
